Junior Round Up

East Cork JAHL Division 1.

Lisgoold 2-12 v 0-16 St. Catherines.

Lisgoold began the league hurling campaign with a victory over St. Catherines after a close encounter in Lisgoold last Saturday. Lining out without John Cashman, the team had a fresh look about it, with Cian Healy and Kevin Mulcahy starting in defence and Kieran Cashman lining out in an unfamiliar full forward role. Kieran got the scoring off with a fine point and John Cronin found the range from the ‘40. Kieran tacked on 3 more points before Daragh Fleming found the net to put Lisgoold 1-5 to 4 points ahead. Kieran goaled from a free and landed a couple of more points which together with another from Johnsie left it 2-7 to 0-09 at half time. St. Catherines battled away in the second half but the defence manned by Brain Clifford and Cathal Cashman in the central positions played very well and Lisgoold saw this one out in the end. Team: C. Cronin, C. Healy, C. Cashman, C. Scannell, B. Flynn, B. Clifford, K. Mulcahy, P. O’Mahony, P. Leahy, Caoimhan O’Shea, J. Cronin (0-2), M. O’Connell, D. Fleming (1-0), K. Cashman (1-10; 1-06 frees), J. Woods. Subs. A. Donovan, S. Whelan, A. McCarthy, R. Smart.
